As part of ‘PROFILE ME’ Questionnaire, this is for Eugenia Lim
1. What will you be when you grow up?
Straight up – I want to known as the world’s best story collector.
2. What makes you happy?
There is nothing more erotic than a good conversation. Give me a worthy chat and that will make make my day.
3. What is happiness?
Let me share with you a quote that eloquently explains happiness… Despite what Paulo has to say, we still need love in our life.
“After all, what is happiness? Love, they tell me. But love doesn’t bring and never has brought happiness. On the contrary, it’s a constant state of anxiety, a battlefield; it’s sleepless nights, asking ourselves all the time if we’re doing the right thing. Real love is composed of ecstasy and agony.”
~ Paulo Coelho, The Witch of Portobello
4. Do you prefer the great outdoors or the great indoors? What do you do there?
Life is all about the adventures one seeks. It doesn’t really matter where I am, chuck me somewhere and I’m sure something awesome would happen. If anything, I fear that nothing will occur.
5. Do you look at or avoid mirrors?
There’s another self inside of me, his name is ‘Mister B’ and it demands constant attention. ‘He’ loves the mirror; it to ensure that he is pretty for the world to see.
6. What’s your favourite colour?
It’s yellow. I have this amazing yellow raincoat and it is also Mister B’s favourite item. He says I brighten people’s day by just wearing it. Isn’t he such a darling?
7. Tell me about a song OR scene from a film that evokes a particular time, memory, experience, story for you…
The scene from Forrest Gump when he was at the bus stop he said, “Life is like a box chocolate. You never know what you’re gonna get.” .
Just moments like that, when we sit around at the bus stop and someone shares their life story with you.
8. What’s the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen?
Remember the time when Japan was hit by the earthquake and tsunami? I went and visited Kensennuma and it had been a year since the incident. I found a massive yard full of rusted and neatly stacked cars. Each of the cars had numbers on them – it was a like beautiful yet surreal graveyard full of tombstones. It just hurts to think of the lives lost – it’s a reminder to appreciate one’s life.
9. If you have travel planns for the future, where will you go and what will you do there?
I want to travel around Australia, visiting small towns and big cities. I will be collecting stories from the public. The goal is to be saturated with thousands of stories. I excited to think about the stories that will come my way.
10. Ever wanted to know what it’s like in another person’s shoes? Who would you consider swapping a day in your life with? Why?
I’d like to swap my life with ‘Mister B’ for a day, I am curious to see what kind of adventures he will get up to. Will he go on drunken rampage or spend all my money on clothes?
