I made an origami box and crane in remembrance of Andrea Mina. I went to a river and sent it floating.
Dearest Andrea Mina,
When I first heard the news of your departure. I was instantly stuck with a sense of sadness. Then I became more sad as I never had the opportunity to reveal how inspirational and instrumental you are to my foundation of my creative practice.
I remember the very first day of being an Interior Design student and how many of us are idealistic enough to believe that we can create positive impact. Many of us won’t build what we design.
I was like; challenge accepted.
Eight years later…I’m in Sydney. While I might not be in design I am practicing as an artist and continue to use design as a tool to help create positive impact and change.
You were an insightful and supportive tutor. You were also one of the coolest person around. I will always remember you fondly. Thank you for being an amazing person and may you rest in peace.
